Lamborghini once again forays into the mobile world by means of four new luxury devices. The Italy-based manufacturer of sports cars is showcasing the L2800 tablet, new TL700 smartphone, the TL688 Spyder featurephone, and the TL820 Spyder 2 featurephone.
Despite being luxury devices, however, these gadgets do not carry top-of-the-line specifications. Rather, the word “luxury” describes the materials used on the devices’ exteriors, like gold and crocodile skin. For instance, the L2800 Lamborghini tablet only has Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an old OS, onboard. Eventually, however, the device might have an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Its processor, a Qualcomm processor that is possibly single-core and has a clock speed of only 1.2 GHz, leaves some to be desired, as well. Its other internal specifications include 4 GB of internal storage along with 512 MB of RAM. Outside, it is equipped with built-in speakers, a 2 megapixel front camera, a 5 megapixel rear camera, and a card reader for microSD. Its sapphire crystal display display, in the meantime, measures 9.7 inches and has a native resolution of 1024 × 768pixels. The device will reportedly carry a price tag of $2,290, €1,840 or 75,000 RUB.
Next up is its handset, the Lamborghini TL700, which also has Android 2.3 Gingerbread as its operating system. It also has a sapphire crystal display that is of the WVGA type. This screen spans 3.7 inches. Like the tablet, a Qualcomm-brand processor may be found on the phone, although its speed is unidentified. There is moreover 4 GB of internal storage on the phone and a 1,400 mAh battery. A VGA front camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera complete the list of known specifications. For its part, the TL700 retails at $2,750, €2,200 or 90,000 RUB.
Lastly the two featurephones called the TL688 Spyder and the TL820 Spyder 2 have similar designs and internal form factors. They both have QVGA displays, dual cameras, and GPRS and EDGE connectivity options. Their price range runs from 60,000 RUB to 80,000 RUB.
Previously, the company already worked with other device manufacturers, such as with Asus on the ZXI phone in 2008. However, that plan had been scrapped. It later partnered with TAG Heuer to create a luxury phone called the Meridiist Lamborghini in 2009.
**Clarification: Tonino Lamborghini is a separate company from the sports car manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini. They share the same name because “Tonino Lamborghini” was founded by Ferrucio Lamborghin’s son. However, the new phone is not associated with the automaker Lamborghini**
