If you are a very active person and work at places where there is always dust and water, here is another smart phone for you straight from Sony’s stables. The company has announced two new Android smart phones, the Xperia go and the Xperia arco S, which are not only water resistant, but also dust resistant. Okay, I think my introduction was not so effective, but these phones have to got much more to them than just being water resistance. Yes, both smart phones are very well built for the rugged profile they are supposed to have and are designed for a particular class of users.
When these phones get wet, it will be very difficult to use them as the display will be wet as well. So you will first have to wipe it clean and then start using. Well, you might think that way, but you seriously do not have to do all that. Both the smart phones use Sony’s “wet finger tracking” technology previously seen on the Xperia Active, so the screen will still respond even if it and your fingers are damp. That is something really great.
The two smart phones are well far apart in terms of the technical specifications. The DialAPhone writes:
On the spec side, the Xperia Go has a 3.5″ Reality Display touchscreen with a modest 320 x 480 pixel resolution, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, and a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. Sony doesn’t mention which chip it is, but we’d expect it to be the NovaThor U8500.
It has 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot to give that figure a boost by up to 32GB, plus a 1265mAh battery, GPS and DLNA connectivity.
The Xperia Acro S has a large 4.3″ Reality Display screen with a 720p resolution, a 12 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot too.
Not just this, the Sony Xperia go is coming pre installed with Android 2.3 or Gingerbread, where as the Sony Xperia arco S is coming with Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. So there is some competition between the two brothers already. May the best man win.
