The American Advertising Federation tenth district has presented Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) and their ad agency with the 2012 Innovation and Leadership in Advertising Award. Samsung Mobile was chosen for their “ground breaking and inventive advertising programs”. Most of those programs in 2011 & 2012 focused around the Apple iPhone Fan Boy commercials that led up to the Samsung Galaxy Note.
“Samsung Mobile is honored to be recognized by American Advertising Federation and to be included in such a prestigious field of recipients,” said Todd Pendleton, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Mobile. “In the past few years, we have taken a leadership role within the mobile industry and our marketing and advertising efforts are following suit. We are fortunate to have talented people and agencies that are helping us deliver on our vision.”
More after the break
As part of the award Samsung will receive a $3500 scholarship from the AAF 10th district to give to a student in advertising related disciplines. The student will also receive a paid internship with Samsung’s marketing and communications department during the summer of 2012.
Outside of the Apple fan boy campaign or “The Next Big Thing” as it was actually called ,Samsung has done a great job of keeping their Galaxy line on the top of consumers minds. The world will be watching next month as they unveil the Samsung Galaxy S III. The biggest rumor about the device is that they have secured placement as the official phone of the 2012 Olympics. Hopefully we’ll see all that come together next month in London.
