Last month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain, Huawei shocked the universe with the announcement of their new D Quad smart phone. The quad-core processor wasn’t as shocking as the fact that they are making that quad-core processor in house under the K3V2 name. That gives Huawei more control of the end user experience having the chip and the phone manufactured on the same campus.
Then, to top things off Huawei started talking about how their K3V2 processor is 49% faster than the other quad-core processors on the market, in effect making it the “world’s fastest smartphone”.
Well phandroid is reporting today by way of unwired, that the Huawei D-quad is just a few months away. The device will go into a full production run starting in June and they plan on shipping units starting in July.
In addition to the quad-core processor we’re looking at a phone with a 4.5″ 720 display, 8mb camera and 1gb of RAM. It will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There is no word on what, if any, U.S. carrier will get the device.
