Sony Kills Sony Ericsson Website For Sony Mobile

In one of the fastest merger transactions of the past 12 months, Sony has completed the purchase of Ericsson’s part of Sony Ericsson.  With that comes a new name “Sony Mobile Communications”.  Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer announced the new name of the mobile unit at a press conference at CES.

On Wednesday, Sony Ericsson’s website was no more. Instead they’ve streamlined their mobile page to look like the rest of the company websites and they’ve ditched the green spherical logo that’s been a part of Sony Ericsson for years.

If you go to sonyericsson.com you are automatically redirected to the new sonymobile.com.  We’ve also heard, by way of phonearena.com, that Sony is planning on ditching the @Sonyericsson Twitter handle.  They are reportedly going to switch to tweeting from the @Sonyxperia Twitter handle however they haven’t done so yet.
