IMO Instant Messenger For Android Gets Updated, Includes Voice Calls Now

Posted on Feb 25 2012 - 8:55am by Kevin Thomas

One of our favorite third party instant messenger apps is IMO. IMO was founded by one of the original Google employees which insures that it functions great on Android devices. It also means that IMO updates features for Android before other platforms.

One of those features is voice calls. IMO’s new voice calling feature is still in beta and available on their Android app only right now. You can make actual voice calls to your contacts through the app. You can also leave voice messages in walkie talkie or “voxer” style.

Updated in this version:

  1.  fix most common crashes
  2. use the phone layout on small tablets (like the Samsung Note)
  3. fix the auto away preference
  4. ability to share pictures, videos, audio and other files from other apps (example: Gallery)
  5. improve voice call quality

IMO supports; AIM, GTalk, ICQ, MSN, Facebook Chat, Hyves, Jabber, MySpace, Skype, VKontakte, and Yahoo Messenger. The app is free to download and free to use. In addition to Android, IMO is available for iPhone, iPad, and Blackberry.
