AT&T To Double Upgrade Fees

In the wake of a 4 billion (with a b) dollar payout to T-Mobile after AT&T’s failed merger attempt, it looks like they are raising fees yet again. This time, AndroidCentral has uncovered that customers looking to make an upgrade will begin paying $36 which is double the previous upgrade fee of $18.

AT&T is directing their core store reps to tell customers that the fee is for the costs of selecting and activating the phone that they want to upgrade to. It’s apparent that they don’t realize most of the selection process these days is happening at home.

In AT&T’s defense this is the first time they’ve increased the upgrade fee in ten years. Albeit it’s double what it used to be, that does say something right?

Look for the upgrade price to change on Sunday.
