The hacktivist group Anonymous is back at it again. They’re all riled up right now because of SOPA, PIPA and Kim Dotcom (Mega Upload). Anonymous is looking to bring as much attention as possible to the rights that Americans can loose if laws like SOPA and PIPA are passed. They’re also bringing to light the fact that businesses like Mega Upload can be shut down with or without SOPA or PIPA.
SOPA and PIPA have been temporarily halted. Of course Congress can reintroduce the legislation under another guise or try for SOPA and PIPA later when the undercurrent and murmur dies down but it’s not likely.
More after the break
Anonymous took down CBS.com for a while this evening. During the take down it was more than a DDoS attack they actually got to the root and according to Gizmodo, when you went to the cbs.com website you got nothing but an index page and one file. CBS has since been restored.
Anonymous also took down UniversalMusic for the second time this week. As of press time (2:50am ET) Universal is still down. It looks like it could be down until morning.
Gizmodo is reporting that Anonymous has also taken down a bunch of Brazilian based websites as well as former Universal Music Group partner Vivendi in France.
