Sprint Joins Forces With The NBA

Sprint and the NBA announced a multi year marketing partnership today that makes Sprint the official wireless partner for the NBA.

The partnership is reminiscent of the NFL partnership Sprint lost to Verizon Wireless in 2010. Sprint will reach NBA fans in a variety of ways including marquee league events, tv and digital exposure, and customized NBA mobile content for Sprint customers.

Sprint will also develop a new, mobile app with the depth and customization that Sprint already offers it’s customers through their Nascar app.  The app which will be dubbed “Sprint NBA Mobile” will allow fans to have access to each of their favorite players and teams with live scoring, custom audio feeds and more.

Fans who want more mobile access will be able to purchase “NBA League Pass Mobile” which will give them streaming access to 40 out of market games per week.

“Only Sprint delivers the NBA without limits to fans with truly unlimited plans, so fans can watch and listen to live games from their phones or check scores and stats as much as they want without worry,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO.

Some of Sprint’s co-branding opportunities include the NBA All Star Balloting program, NBA All Star Celebrity Game, NBA All Star Game, NBA Green Week and the NBA draft.

Through the partnership Boost Mobile was also named as the first marquee partner of the WNBA. Boost Mobile is also the main sponsor for the NBA D-League.
