Imagine you’re walking down the streets of New York City with an M4A1 assault rifle by your side. You’re not in cartoon format, you’re not looking at computer aided animation but you’re looking at real cabs, real people, real cars and real buildings. You’re walking down Broadway shooting everything in sight, and it looks so real.
That’s because with Google Shoot View you’re looking at real Google Street view maps and you’re shooting things in this web based online first person shooter. No one goes down, there’s no blood, no ones running for cover, but it’s you and your M4A1 picking off people, cars, even the homeless guy waiting for a hand out.
As sick as it may sound, for now this is a real website and for at least a minute or two it’s interesting if not entertaining. You get one gun the M4A1. You use your mouse to move around, click your mouse to fire and you can even walk forward using your up arrow key.
There are only certain areas that are supported and the web game will tell you when you hit an area that’s not supported. We spent a lot of time on Broadway even went down to Wall Street but couldn’t find any OWS protesters. We’re not sure if the game supports anymore than this section of Manhattan and we’re also not sure how long it will last. I’m sure this idea could be a big hit if they turned it into an Android game, all the major Android news blogs would be all over this game if they developed the game further. We’ll have to contact these guys to see what’s the direction they plan on taking this concept.
If you want to try it yourself here’s the link.
