Pocketnow has obtained what looks to be an actual photo of the upcoming Motorola Xoom 2. As we’ve heard now, the Xoom 2 is supposed to be called the Xyboard. Xyboard is supposedly a play on Cyborg according to Pocketnow’s Evan Blass.
The Xyboard will be available in two models, the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and the Droid Xyboard 8.2 of course both noting the size of each tablets display.
We are expecting both tablets to be available shortly. It looks like they wil feature 1.2ghz dual core processors and possibly Ice Cream Sandwich.
More after the break
It’s no secret that the original Motorola Xoom did not live up to the sales expectations of Verizon or Motorola which may be the reason they changed the name to Xyboard. However it’s not just the name, it’s the entire sci-fi theme that seems to resonate with geeks and early adopters and not the single mom who may want to organize her work schedule, couponing and catch an e-book before bed.
Motorola’s Sanjay Jha admitted back in June that the marketing strategy may have been wrong (ya think?). However that didn’t stop Verizon or Motorola from pushing forward with an equally as sci-fi theme for the recently released Droid Razr.
Nonetheless both tablets are real and when they make it over to Verizon they should be sporting 4G/LTE radios. Lets hope that at least they get the pricing right and we can start seeing Android tablets put a dent into iPad sales.
