About two weeks ago TFTS writer Robert Nelson scooped a story that Sony would upgrade all of the 2011 Sony Ericsson phones to Ice Cream Sandwich. Today Sony has defined a window of “early 2012” for that upgrade to happen.
According to a Sony marketing person on their Facebook page all of the Sony Ericsson Android phones released in 2011 will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update as soon as early 2012. Sony is in the process of buying back half of their joint venture with Ericsson bringing mobile phones under the bigger Sony umbrella.

Sony Ericsson released the Xperia play this summer with Verizon Wireless. The first PlayStation authorized phone was supposed to arrive earlier in the year but was delayed due to supply chain problems resulting from the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Once released though the device didn’t catch on the way anyone really expected it would. However it is getting Ice Cream Sandwich.
