MetroPCS Adds HTC Wildfire S To Their Line Up

MetroPCS has added the HTC Wildfire S to their line up of Android smartphones.

The HTC Wildfire S has been making it’s rounds on prepaid carriers with the latest being MetroPCS. The Wildfire S is a compact, stylish Android device running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC’s UI, HTC Sense on top making it easy to use for first time smartphone, and first time Android users.

The WIldfire S features a 3.2 inch display with a resolution of 320 x 480 with Gorilla Glass on board. It has  5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and takes VGA video at 24 frames per second.

This isn’t a superphone by any stretch but it’s the perfect midrange device for the MetroPCS customer.

MetroPCS does have 4G LTE however the Wildfire S is a “3G” phone for their network. It’s the first HTC phone for the Dallas based carrier.

“As we continue to deliver Android for All to our customers, our partnership with HTC is yet another way we’re delivering today’s most advanced smartphones with the affordability and flexibility of our no-annual contract services,” said Tom Keys, president and chief operating officer of MetroPCS. “The HTC brand continues to increase in popularity given its high-quality, cutting-edge smartphones that allow consumers to do more while on the go. The HTC Wildfire S is a perfect example – a powerful, yet chic device that delivers the most of Android, while making it easier to enjoy the multimedia and entertainment consumers love.”

MetroPCS offers an unlimited plan that allows customers to choose a media service as well. For just $60 a month the MetroPCS customer gets unlimited calls, text, data and a choice between Rhapsody unlimited music  or MetroStuido’s unlimited video service. Both are offered as competition to Cricket’s Muve Music service.

“Through our partnership with MetroPCS, we hope to continue providing our consumers with the affordable, yet advanced, smartphones and multimedia content they demand, all with the flexibility of a pay-in-advance service,.” said Martin Fichter, vice president, product management, HTC Americas.

The HTC Wildfire S will be available this week at MetroPCS stores for $179 plus tax. That’s of course off contract so you own the phone for that $179 investment and pay as you go with MetroPCS.
