Many of us are anxiously awaiting the release of the Asus Transformer Prime. The newest tablet by Asus qualifies as a super tablet as it’s the first with Nvidias Tegra 3 quad-core processor. As we found out earlier this year the Tegra 3 chip isn’t even a quad-core processor it has 5 cores with the 5th core being a 500mhz core designed for running background applications.
Netbooknews and Phandroid are reporting the tablet will be available in U.S. retailers starting next Thursday December 8th. You can expect the tablet at the usual suspects like Best Buy and Amazon but it will also take up residence on shelves at GameStop locations where the video games retailer is bundling it with their controller and cloud based Android gaming service.
The 32gb version should hover around $500 for pricing and if you’ve got someone looking for a hard-core speedy tablet for entertainment it’s definitely worth a look. If you’re looking for a productivity machine you may still want to set your sites on this.
