As our friends at 9to5google say, for the past few years there have been a few decent attempts at flexible LED displays. Often shown off at CES or other consumer electronics shows around the world, these displays have yet to actually come out in mobile phones. Samsung is hoping to change that.
While on their third quarter analyst call a Samsung spokesman Robert Yi said:
The flexible display, we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part. The application probably will start from the handset side.
According to International Business Times, Samsung is working on a Galaxy smartphone with a flexible display going under the name “Galaxy Skin”, these flexible displays are made of plastic polymide substrate which is way more flexible than glass. It’s also sturdy, reliable and can handle even impacts from a hammer.
