The most hyped Android phone of the year has arrived. On stage in Hong Kong Samsung and Google introduced the world to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the flagship device for Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus features a contoured body housing a 4.65″ HD superAMOLED screen, a 1.2ghz dual core processor and the newest version of the Android operating system. The entire package weighs just 135g and comes in at 8.94mm. The contour makes the device feel natural and light both in the hand and in the pocket.
More after the break
In the camera department there is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and zero shutter lag. It also has fast shot technology and a suite of user controllable features to give you the functionality of a point and shoot inside your phone. The rear facing camera also takes brilliant 1080p full HD video at 30 frames per second.
Running the entire device is a 1750 mah battery one of the largest batteries in it’s class. On the back your going to find hyperskin coating which makes it easier to grip and harder to drop.
“Samsung and Google have closely collaborated to push the mobile experience forward. We are pleased to deliver the best Android smartphone experience for customers with GALAXY Nexus. We will continue to move forward with Android to provide the compelling consumer experience in mobile world,” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.
Samsung also announced that the device would be available for both 4G/LTE and HSPA+ without naming a US Carrier. They did however confirm that DoCoMo in Japan is getting the device next month. We expect pricing and availability for the United States to be announced in the next two weeks.
