Earlier this year Thedroidguy staff attended an event in New York City for AT&T. The event was giving a sneak peek into some of the devices that were going to be part of AT&T’s fall and holiday line up. One of those devices is the PlayStation certified Sony Xperia Play. After the event our very own Cameron Wright revealed that the Xperia Play would be available sometime before the end of the year, and no date had been pinned down. It was actually rumored to have a December launch date, which didn’t make any sense because the GSM version of the Xperia Play was actually the first version available.
More after the break
AT&T has decided to not waste anytime and the Xperia Play is now available. The best part though, it’s only $49.99 on a new two year agreement. Although the Xperia Play isn’t screaming superphone, it has a unique PlayStation controller that slides out in pace of a qwerty keyboard.
Other specs include; a 1ghz Qualcomm SnapDragon Processor, 4 inch LCD display with a resolution of 480×854, and a 5 mega pixel camera with 720p video capability. At also rocks an Adreno 205 GPU and Android 2.3.3 is onboard along with a special Android Market highlighting games for the Xperia Play. The AT&T version is also 4G and comes in “stealth blue”
