Big news out of Seoul S. Korea today as electronics giant, Samsung has crossed the 10 million threshold in sales of their 2011 flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S II.  Back in February when JK Shin took the state at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona he spoke about how this phone was a game changer and thus far it has been.

Samsung reported this morning that the GT-I9100, Samsung Galaxy S II, has sold 10 million units globally.  That’s the international version and doesn’t take into consideration any of the Sprint Epic 4G Touch devices sold in the last  week or so.

More after the break

The Galaxy S II is turning heads, where even some iPhone loyalists have taken notice of this high end Android device.

“Since its launch in late April 2011, the GALAXY S II has seen continued sales success, demonstrating Samsung’s industry-leading capabilities in – and commitment to – the smartphone market” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

“In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.”

The Samsung Galaxy S II will release to AT&T customers on October 2nd for just $199 on a new two year agreement. It is expected to appear on the T-Mobile USA network sometime in October as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S II features a superAMOLED Plus screen, dual core Exonys processor, 8mp camera and Touch Wiz on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
