Panasonic is introducing a new Android phone, based on their highly successful Lumix cameras.  Just as the headline says, we’ve seen a lot of Android devices with great cameras, this is the opposite, a great camera with an Android phone.

First off the Panasonic Lumix Phone is going to bravely go where no smartphone camera has yet to go and that is 13mega pixels. In addition to that, the back of the camera is a 4inch qHD (960×540) display which shows your photo subject while shooting it and doubles as an Android phone screen.

To top off these already amazing specs you’ve got Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered by a dual core 1ghz Texas Instruments OMAP processor. It’s also waterproof.

More after the break

Here’s a complete rundown of preliminary specs from TechCrunch:

  • Android 2.3
  • 4-inch QHD LCD screen with 960×540 resolution
  • 13.2MP CMOS Lumix sensor with “Mobile Venus Engine”
  • waterproof body (IPX5/7)
  • TI OMAP4430 dual-core CPU (1GHz)
  • compatible with SoftBank’s “Ultra Speed” high-speed data communication service (max. 21Mbps)

I’m REALLY surprise Samsung hasn’t beat anyone to the punch with a device like this seeing that they make good point & shoots and excellence Android devices.  I like the fact that it’s waterproof AND a world phone.  Fantastic for vacations!!!
