Acer Iconia Tab Hits AT&T This Week And Is Priced Correctly

Acer’s original A500 Iconia Tab hit the market like wildfire. Often thought of as a “cheap” but reliable laptop and netbook company, the world wasn’t ready for the elegant look, smooth operation and great feel of the original Acer Iconia.  It, like it’s counterpart the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, sold out when the first batches arrived in stores this past spring.

At CTIA in Orlando AT&T revealed the fact that they would be carrying the new Acer Iconia tablet and then that news was put on the back burner. Well, the news is back and official via AT&T. This coming Sunday (September 18th) you can pick up the new Acer Iconia Tablet dubbed the A501. This tablet brings you the same form, functionality and specs as it’s wi-fi only brother, but with AT&T’s HSPA+ (4G) service as well.

More after the break

The best part of this news is actually the price. While it’s not by any means “low or cheap” you can get the A501 off contract with the cellular radio inside for just $479,99. If you’re so inclined as to get on a data contract you’ll get the tablet for $329.99 on a new two year agreement. AT&T’s best tablet data plan is 3gb for $35 per month.

“For tablet users it needs to be always on, connected, and readily available to access the content they want, including entertainment, social networking, email and Internet browsing,” said Glenn Lurie, president, emerging devices, AT&T. “We’re connecting the Acer Iconia to the AT&T 4G network and we’re offering several data options, both prepaid and postpaid plans, to ensure the best experience, the best value and the greatest flexibility for our consumer and small business customers. We also plan to prominently feature the Acer Iconia in our AT&T stores across the country.”

The Acer Iconia Tablet runs the latest version of Android, Honeycomb. Under the hood it has the 1ghz dual core, Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with 1gb of RAM.
