Verizon Giving Customers Early Upgrades For Droid Bionic

Posted on Aug 30 2011 - 12:29am by Kyle

When Verizon introduced the Motorola Droid X last year they allowed customers that became eligible for upgrades before December 31, 2010 to upgrade early to the newest Android device.  This time it seems that Verizon is moving upgrade dates up just in time for the rumored Droid Bionic launch on September 8th and then the iPhone 5 launch later this fall.

According to pocketnow.com some folks that aren’t even eligible for upgrades until May 2012 are getting their date moved up.

In addition to the Motorola Droid Bionic and the iPhone 5, the HTC Vigor and the Droid Prime are all expected before the end of the year which would mean that these customers getting early upgrades would be eligible to receive those phones at the new two year contract price.  Now don’t get us wrong, getting your upgrade date moved does mean that you would have to start a new 2 year agreement to get promotional pricing, but heck you were going to renew with Verizon anyway right?

Also from what I learned, VZW may be giving early upgrades also because they’ve done away with their “new every 2″ upgrade credits, so basically everyone who hasn’t used their “last” upgrade prior to them nixing the NE2 credit, will most likely be allowed to “early upgrade”. I wasn’t due for an upgrade until March of 2012 , and I could’ve upgraded earlier this summer.

Not w/ their tiered pricing plan. When my contract is up, it’s bye bye Verizon!
