The TDG team is actually all over the world this week. We will be in New York for the Samsung Galaxy S II launch, Berlin Germany for IFA and Atlanta for Dragoncon. Today is the first of the big events, the US launch of the Samsung Galaxy S II.
Tonight at 6pm eastern we’ll be in the house as Samsung Mobile and their carrier partners announce the follow up to the Samsung Galaxy S. If all the rumors are correct we are expecting the Samsung Epic Touch 4G on Sprint, the Samsung Hercules on T-Mobile and the Samsung Attain on AT&T. Verizon Wireless is said to be absent for this launch but we’ve seen stranger things happen. Last September as we prepared to enter the US launch for the 7″ Samsung Galaxy Tab we had heard there would be just two carriers, by the time the presentation started all 4 carriers were on board.
More after the break
We are expecting the Samsung Epic Touch 4G to launch first on Sprint on September 8th or 9th. The AT&T Attain is to follow. The Samsung Hercules is said to be arriving in October, but again that’s all just speculation. All four devices are supposed to be $199 on new two year agreements.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is a dual core beast of a phone with a 4.3″ superAMOLED plus screen. It’s been released throughout the world with the US actually last this time around. To date the Samsung Galaxy S II has sold over 5 million units. It’s one of the most sought after phones of the year.
Verizon is reportedly sitting this one out and instead they are rumored to be releasing the Samsung Droid Prime which is supposedly the first Ice Cream Sandwich phone, later this fall.
Stay tuned today we will know all there is to know about the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II launch.
