The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 seems to be the runaway hit tablet this year as far as Android is concerned. Although no numbers have been reported we feel safe in suggesting that way more Galaxy Tab 10.1’s have been sold compared to Motorola Xoom’s of course only time will really tell.
When Samsung Mobile’s former CTO Omar Khan showed off the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Orlando Florida at CTIA this March, he also showed the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. They hinted that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 would be released sometime this summer. While there are about 7 weeks left in the summer, it’s definitely time for the rumors to start.
If the Amazon UK site has correct information it’s showing that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be released next week on August 11th. This story actually jives with us more than just a rumor, I mean it is Amazon. Of course the other thing to point out is that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 originally released in Europe and then was re-tooled and released in the United States.
More after the break
At 8.9 inches the Galaxy Tab 8.9 is still pocketable in a suit jacket or sport coat pocket. It’s also the perfect middle ground between the original 7″ version of the Galaxy Tab released last year and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Also according to Gottabemobile the 7″ version of the Galaxy Tab is due for a refresher this fall. The new version should sport a dual core 1.2 ghz Exynos processor along side 1gb of RAM, 2gb of ROM and an SD Slot. Unlike it’s predecessor the new version of the 7″ Galaxy Tab is expected to run Android 3.x Honeycomb.
