OG Samsung Galaxy S For Bell Canada and Virgin Get Gingerbread

It’s kind of funny that we are now referring to the original Samsung Galaxy S, just released last summer, as “OG”.

Both Bell Canada and Virgin Mobile in Canada have announced that the Android 2.3 update to Gingerbread is available to Samsung Galaxy S users via kies. Both carriers have the Samsung Vibrant, the same strain of the Galaxy S that was released first in the United States last year to T-Mobile.

Last winter Samsung Galaxy S owners were up in arms over the upgrade to Froyo coming to US variants of the Samsung Galaxy S. Samsung has just about made the US forget about anything else now except the pending release of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The “SGSII” as it is affectionately known, was announced in February at Mobile World Congress and has come to every major country in the world except the United States.
