Twitter for Android has been my favorite “official” app for a while now. Why? Because they actually try. Facebook for Android has been a work in progress for way too long now, and many of us are getting fed up with it and have switched to third party apps such as Friendcaster. Twitter for Android may have had a rough start, but they sure have stepped up their game to compete with other major apps such as Seesmic and TweetDeck.
Twitter for Android originally started out without the ability to save scroll position, a lack of “slide-to-reveal”, and pull-to-refresh was MIA as well. Now they have just updated their app to version 2.1 adding two key features: multiple accounts and push notifications. That’s right, we can finally have all of our Twitter accounts on the official app and, my personal favorite, get instant updates for things like mentions and messages. Gone are the days of constantly refreshing to get updates, and I am applauding you Twitter. Head over to the Android Market now and grab Twitter for Android version 2.1.
