Samsung Telecommunication (Samsung Mobile) chief JK Shin revealed to analysts and journalists on a Dow Jones call that Samsung is indeed prepping the Galaxy S 3 for an early 2012 release. While this is great news, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 hasn’t “officially” been released in the United States yet.
Now US customers are faced with a decision, pick up a Galaxy S 2 in the coming weeks or hold out 6 months or so for a Galaxy S 3?
More after the break
According to CNet UK, the Galaxy S 3 will feature a quad-core processor and a super bright AMOLED 3D screen. It’s also said to have a 12 mega-pixel camera, and NFC. The Galaxy S 3 will run the next version of Android which has been dubbed “Ice Cream Sandwich”.
In the same call Shin indicated that a 4G tablet would be coming soon. He seems to have meant a new 4G tablet, however the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G/LTE will be coming as soon as tomorrow at Verizon Wireless stores. Shin always gets excited about what Samsung is working on. For instance at last years IFA convention while at the release event for the 7″ Galaxy Tab, Shin said on stage that the Galaxy Tab was part of a portfolio of tablets that would include a 10″ Honeycomb tablet.
Although Shin’s enthusiasm makes great writing for Android and mobile journalists and excites Samsung customers, let us not forget not only is Samsung late in the release of the Galaxy S 2 but there is also an 8.9″ Galaxy Tab waiting in the wings.
