Last week Samsung went to the International Trade Commission seeking a ban on the import of Apple Products, citing pending patent litigation all over the world between both companies. Over the weekend though, Samsung dropped a countersuit against Apple in California.
Although some may think this is a legal victory for Cupertino, CA based Apple, that’s not necessarily the case. Apple and Samsung have pending litigation each other in 8 courts, 6 countries and 3 continents. This back and forth legal battle has been going in since Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung in California back in April. Apple alleges that Samsung has copied Apples signature mobile products, the iPad and iPhone in over 20 of Samsung’s Android devices.
In response to Samsung’s ITC request Apple quickly responded by filing an injunction against three of Samsung’s smartphones and their tablets.
