MyTouch4G Slide Genius Button Powered By Nuance

The new T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide features some great voice activated enhancements powered by Nuance. Nuance is by far the most advanced company in the voice activated space for Android. Other companies like Vlingo and iSpeech just aren’t there yet when it comes to mass implementation, that’s why Nuance is the voice activated sponsor for the AndroidHomecoming.

The My Touch 4G Slide, exclusively at T-Mobile, features new wake up and music search capabilities that are voice activated. When the phone’s hands free mode is turned on and the phone is set to always listening mode, users can wake the phone up by simply saying “Genius Button”. From there users can use a whole library of voice activated genius commands to either simplify multi-tasking or while driving.

More after the break

Users can also access music playing functions via voice command. A simpe “Play” then song, artist, album or playlist, will tell the MyTouch 4G Slide to play that song, artist, album or playlist.

“Genius Button’s one-shot voice capabilities allow myTouch customers to simply speak and get instant access to their favorite applications, like email and text messaging, Web search, navigation and now music,” said Andrew Morrison, vice president, product management, T-Mobile USA said in a press release. “Working with Nuance, the Genius Button continues to get even smarter, providing our consumers with a smartphone experience that stands out from the crowd.”

“Voice has proven to be an incredibly easy, productive and compelling way to engage the most popular applications on T-Mobile myTouch smartphones — and with the new wake up command and music access on the myTouch 4G Slide, it’s gotten even better,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice resident and general manager, Nuance Mobile.

The T-Mobile genius button has become a staple in their MyTouch line, adding voice to it by Nuance brings it over the top.
