The update for the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon to Android 2.3 Gingerbread is starting to look like the release saga we went through earlier in the year. Droid Life has obtained an email to an HTC Thunderbolt owner that clearly says the update has been pulled with no sign of when it will come back out. The email goes on to tell that there is a bug in Android 2.3 with the HTC Thunderbolt and that’s why the update was pulled.
There was a maintenance update a few weeks back that in addition to helping out some of the bugs on the Android 2.2 version, also disabled hotspot sharing. We’re hopeful that HTC and Verizon will roll the update out in the coming weeks but nothing official is definitely NOT comforting.
Dear Shannon xxxxx
I understand how important it is to have the latest update for your device. Unfortunately, it is the latest update to 2.3 that is creating this to happen. HTC has pulled back this update to keep future customers from receiving the update. We are working on getting this update fixed, when the update is relaunched you will receive a notification on your device. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time frame on when this issue will be resolved. Shannon, we do apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
