FaceNiff enables “sniffing” done the easy way(Update)

For those users who haven’t heard of Firesheep which was a Firefox extension in which it would sniff out log-in’s over Wi-Fi has now had a miror of that done in an Android Application. FaceNiff is an Application that sniffs out sessions over a connect Wi-Fi connection you are on. It wont give you the passwords however you will be able to “control” the session on it.

The process is fairly easy to get started. Within just a couple of clicks you are able to sniff out passwords over a connected Wi-Fi connection that you are on. Currently there is only a small list of devices it currently works on now:

  • HTC Desire CM7
  • Motorola Xoom
  • HTC MyTouch4g CM7(Nightlies)
  • Original Droid/Milestone CM7
  • SE Xperia X10
  • Samsung Galaxy S
  • Nexus 1 CM7
  • HTC HD2
  • LG Swift 2X
  • LG Optimus Black – original rom
  • LG Optimus 3D – original rom
  • Samsung Infuse

However with any product like this it wont be long till it starts to work on others. While applications like this will never be allowed in the Android market the creators have posted it on their website for free to test. you only have “3” profiles you are able to get from this before it asks you to buy the full version at $4.99. Its fairly easy as seen in the video below, as well I tried it my self. Also I wanted to add that it also states that if your browser uses SSL this application wont work.

Update: After speaking to the creator, when you buy the licence its device specific, so someone like me and others with multiple devices would have to contact him to get an additional key made.
