Even Radio Shack Thinks Nokia Should Have Gone Android

On the stage at the recent All Things Digital D9 Conference, Google’s Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, said that he wished Nokia would have gone with Android and hopes that if something changes they still have a shot.  Schmidt cited Nokia’s success in some foreign markets that Google would like Android to be in, as the reason for wanting Nokia to become an Android Licensee.

Shortly after the Nokia/Microsoft Windows Phone 7 partnership was announced, right before Mobile World Congress, Intel’s CEO Paul Otellini made no bones about saying that Nokia should have also gone with Android.  However the main in charge (and implanted by Microsoft) Stephen Elop, chose Microsoft, probably because of the billions of dollars involved in the deal.

Well Friday David at Tmonews was given a tip about the screenshot above.  Obviously Radio Shack agrees with both Schmidt and Otellini and has decided to take matters into their own hands.  As you can see the Nokia Astound is front and center in an Android focused home page from radioshack.com. Of course by now the error has been corrected and it’s not really that they want Nokia to have Android. It was an error by their art department (who wants Nokia to have Android)
