Amazon To Ship Google I/O Attendees Their Samsung Chrome Books Starting June 27

While at Google I/O, Google let those in attendance know that they would be receiving a Samsung Chromebook. However no date was given, and things have been pretty quiet. Lately there has been a bunch of chatter on Twitter questioning both if indeed people will be getting them and when. While sitting and waiting in silence the rumored date of June 15th has come and gone.

However today we found out the those emails have indeed started to filter out to users on how to claim those free Chromebooks. Tapped for this was Amazon to have users to go, to claim their “prize” as All Things D are reporting here.

For those they don’t know, those in attendence will be receiving the white Samsung 3G model that’ll come with 100mb of free data from Verizon Wireless. Past the free 100mb Verizon offers these data plans.  According to the Amazon order fulfillment they are out of stock until June 27th when they plan to ship.  Google I/O attendees are given a coupon code for the free ChromeBook along with free 2 day shipping.

“Samsung is pleased to be able to provide each of you with an Arctic White Samsung Chromebook Series 5,” Google said in the email. “Please log into the Google I/O website by Friday, July 8, 2011 with the confirmation number below and your Google I/O password to receive details on how to receive your Chromebook.”

One interesting part of this is, if you currently go on Amazons website now the product is sold out. So is this something that users will still have to wait for and just hopes of getting one. Or will that code they get make it so it gets sent out to them anyways.

Those who have tried to get one, let us know if indeed you where able to or “out of product” is for you also.
