European based phonearena.com is reporting that another version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 carrying the id number SCH-I905 is coming to Verizon Wireless. It is being reported that, that particular device number is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with an LTE radio built in.
Last week Samsung and Google gave away 5,000 Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s coupled with Samsung’s 4G/LTE mifi hotspot. So far the results, when using both together, have been great. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features the superAMOLED display that Samsung is known for in a form factor thinner and lighter than even the iPad 2. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the box weighed less than the Motorola Xoom.
If this report is indeed true that gives Samsung another leg up over the Motorola Xoom. The Xoom did ship with a 3G radio on Verizon and a slot for an upgraded 4G LTE radio. Motorola and Verizon have both confirmed that the Motorola Xoom will need to be sent into Motorola to do the upgrade to LTE. Many Xoom owners aren’t too sure about sending in their devices.
