Early reports coming out of Korea, where the Samsung Galaxy S II was just launched, are showing that the follow up to the Samsung Galaxy S has sold more than 120,000 units in just three days. That’s 50,000 more units than the original Samsung Galaxy S did in Korea on it’s first three days after launch.
Korea is home to both Samsung and LG and often times the competition can be fierce. The excitement about the Samsung Galaxy S II has been building since introduced at Samsung’s original “Unpacked” event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February. During that event Samsung Telecommunications head JK Shin showed off the brilliant dual core Android device.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is so hot that even Engadget, which is historically an iPhone dominant tech site, said the Samsung Galaxy S II could be the BEST smartphone ever.
We are expecting a US launch announcement later today in New York City where our own Chad O’Kelly and Cameron Wright are covering the festivities. The US version of the Galaxy S II was on display at SXSW at both the Android event hosted by Android and Me and the GDGT party.
