Quick Look: Sony Xperia Play US Retail Version On Verizon Wireless

We’ve had the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in house for about three months and have already shown you plenty of videos like the original unboxing, and a couple game play videos on the Xperia Play.  Today we go hands on for a minute with the retail version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on Verizon Wireless.

The retail version is actually a “Vanilla Android” experience with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.  We also hear from a reliable source that an update to 2.3.4 is imminent and that it will include G-Talk with video chat.  There is a front facing camera on the Sony Xperia Play.

If you didn’t already know the Sony Xperia Play features a full pull out D-Pad and it’s the first PlayStation certified Androdi phone.  It features the new 1ghz Qualcomm SnapDragon II processor which makes game play on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play feel both fast and natural.

The Xperia Play is exclusive to Verizon Wireless and comes out May 26th. It’ll cost just $199.99 on a new two year agreement when coupled with a nationwide talk plan and a qualifying data plan.
