Pantech is based in South Korea and one of the largest mobile phone companies there and today they had made a pretty large announcement regarding an upcoming Android device.  At the moment we are still waiting for Pantech to make an announcement regarding the “Superphone” that has been rumored for quite a bit of time now, but with all good things it takes patience.

Anyways back to the point, today the Pantech Vega Racer was announced. This device will be the very first to sport a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8600 processor, along with 1GB of RAM and the super fast Adreno GPU. The Vega racer will also feature a 4.3″ TFT LCD display, Android 2.3, and dual cameras with an 8mp in back and a 1.3mp front facing camera. As far as size goes it is 9mm thick, weighs 4.23 onces and comes with a 1650 mAh battery.

Now comes the bad news, this device will be available later this month but only to SK Telecom. Later this year, Pantech is also planning on launching a tablet and it will be interesting to see if this tablet can kick the XOOM out of its high position.
