Usually we use the wording “Wow that didn’t take long” when we are talking about the super fast speed it’s taken these days for someone to root a brand new phone. Today we are using “Wow that didn’t take long” in regards to AT&T’s super flagship Android device, the Motorola Atrix 4G.
We are by no means declaring that this may be the end of the road for this nice piece of hardware but Best Buy has already discounted the Atrix 4G to $29.99, which of course makes the lapdock look not so bad.
More after the break
Now you can get the Motorola Atrix 4G for just $29.99 with a new 2 year agreement from Best Buy. As pocketnow suggests, Best Buy is probably trying to “draw down” their inventory because of all the new Android devices coming out.
On April 6th Pacific Crest Analyst, James Faucette downgraded his outlook on Motorola Mobility by $1 billion dollars for each of the next two years on speculation that both the Motorola Xoom Honey Comb tablet and the Atrix were selling poorly. Although both Verizon Wireless and AT&T disputed those claims, this move by Best Buy may suggest that Faucette isn’t far off his mark.
We’ve been using the Atrix for a few weeks now and it’s got a solid form factor, is very snappy and the Lapdock works better than we first anticipated. The biggest selling point for the Motorola Atrix was the unique, accessories that were available to it, but out of the gate the Lapdock was way over priced and drove potential sales off a cliff.
