Fresh on the heels of the Sprint announcement yesterday that they were working on releasing “Tap & go” (NFC) via phone this year, Salt Lake City Utah has announced that they are going to use ISIS, the collective mobile payment program of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless for public transit purchases.
If all goes well if you have the correctly equipped device on one of the three carriers than you will be able to tap, slide, or wave your phone on any of Salt Lake City’s buses to pay your fare. AT&T’s Mark Siegel is hopeful that this program will take off nationwide. He also said that it should adapt the way text messaging did after the carriers tore down the walls in carrier to carrier texting
