It seems that Sprint is unsure whether the HTC EVO View 4G will ship with Gingerbread (Android 2.3), or with Honeycomb (Android 3.0). The devices that were seen at CTIA were running Android 2.3 and it was said that they devices would be upgraded to Android 3.0 as soon as possible.
However, on Sprint’s “Just In Page” earlier they had the EVO View 4G listed as “Coming with Android 3.0”, leading many to believe that the EVO View 4G will come pre loaded with Honeycomb. However, Sprint and Samsung still have yet to receive the source code for Honeycomb, and they also do not know if they will have it by the time the EVO View 4g is launched.
Sprint spokesman Mark Elliott told Android Central, “Our plan is to offer Honeycomb, it’s just a matter of when. It’s too early to determine whether or not Honeycomb will be available at launch.” He also had said that they “Just In Page” will be tweaked. Since then it has been updated to read that the EVO View 4G will come with the “Latest Version of Android”.
So for those of you that are planning on purchasing the HTC EVO View 4G this summer, be prepared for it to more than likely come with Android 2.3, and to be upgraded to 3.0.
