Dog Wars Mysteriously Disappears From The Market

UPDATE:

IT LOOKS AS IF THE GAME IS DOWN DUE TO THE DEVELOPERS CHANGING SERVERS. HERE IS A QUOTE FROM THEIR DOG BUCKS APP:

WE ARE CHANGING SERVERS AND WORKING HARD TO GET THE GAME BACK UP ASAP!!! PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON. Follow us on twitter @dogwarsapp if you want the latest news.

The highly controversial game Dog Wars by Kage Games, LLC. has quickly and quietly been pulled from the Android Market after a lot of noise was made regarding the virtual dog fighting game by both celebrates and organizations against animal cruelty.

Last night we first caught wind of this game when Michael Vick and The Humane Society made mention of it. Vick who was once charged and plead guilty to dog fighting back in 2007, made a statement on The Humane Society’s website regarding the game and how he learned his lesson and that the smart message needs to be sent to kids. Vick, however, is not the only celebrity that jumped aboard the rally against Dog Wars, Alicia Silverstone also joined in the fight along with PETA.

Ms. Silverstone, who wrote a letter to Google CEO Larry Page, stated how she felt regarding this virtual dog fighting game. PETA while reporting the news on their site however, mis-named the Google CEO as Larry Pope instead of Larry Page, below is a statement from them regarding their mistake:

We sincerely apologize for the mistake. You’re right to hold us to a very high standard. You may be interested to know that Larry Pope is the CEO of Smithfield Foods, a company we do battle with over their abuse of pigs. We looked at it and saw “Larry Page” when we’d actually written “Pope.”  I am sure you understand how that can happen. That’s not an excuse as much as an explanation for the mistake.

As of now the game is no longer found in the Android Market, and Google has still yet to make a comment regarding this highly controversial game. As of now we are not sure if this is due to Google or if maybe the developers themselves have removed the application due to protests against it. We are working on finding this out and will be sure to continue in the updates regarding this.

In the meantime we would love to know how others feel regarding Dog Wars by Kage Games. Are you for the game being pulled? Could care less? or Do you believe it is a game, freedom of speech and should remain on the market? Let us know below in the comments.
