BTIG Research has done a very informal study by calling 150 Verizon Wireless corporate stores across the country in 22 cities across the United States. In this study they have asked each store which device is selling better the HTC Thunderbolt or the iPhone 4. 61% of the stores they called said they sold about the same, 11% said they sold more iPhone 4’s and 28% said they sold more Thunderbolt’s.
When speaking more indepth on the phone with store representatives BTIG found that the consensus of feedback was that the lines were heavier for the launch of the HTC Thunderbolt. BTIG warns that the Verizon Stores said that the iPhone 4 was still selling strong but the HTC Thunderbolt was selling either stronger or keeping direct pace with the iPhone 4.
More after the break
Most mobile focused websites, TDG included, reported that the lines for the iPhone4 on release day were not up to expectations and in most cases non-existent.
The HTC Thunderbolt is Verizon Wireless’ first 4G/LTE enabled device and is the first of 4 Android 4G/LTE devices expected this year. The others are the Motorola Droid Bionic, the Samsung Droid Charge, and the LG Revolution.
