Suspended: Twidroyd And UberTwitter Suspended By Twitter

In a move some analysts are calling a competitive reaction, Twitter has suspended Uber Media’s Twidroyd and UberTwitter clients for Android and Blackberry respectively.

By way of their support blog Twitter’s Carolyn Penner let users know why Twidroyd and UberTwitter were suspended. “These violations include, but aren’t limited to, a privacy issue with private Direct Messages longer than 140 characters, trademark infringement, and changing the content of users’ Tweets in order to make money,”

No other statement has been made at this time from Twitter.

Back at UberMedia headquarters Uber Media’s CEO Bill Gross told CNN “The changes they asked us to make were very small,” and added “As a result, we have completed the changes, and new apps are currently being posted to their respective stores.”

According to Ubermedia the new version of Twidroyd and the newly named UberSocial have been uploaded to their respective markets and are currently awaiting Twitter’s approval.

Ubermedia just received a new round of funding on the promise that they are going to continue building apps based on the twitter platform. Some see Ubermedia as a large competitor to twitter although all of their apps still drive tweets to twitter.  Despite being rivals Ubermedia’s COO told CNN last week “We’re not in any way a competitive — we do have a good relationship with Twitter,”
