Motorola’s community manager reported via their forums that they “worked for months to attempt to create a version of Android 2.1 that would perform well on the CLIQ XT,” they came to the conclusion that it’s just not doable. The tore the code apart (even turning to the community for help in the task) — and, unfortunately, just couldn’t get it to a point that they considered the update a “better customer experience.”
Bare in mind that this isn’t even a Froyo upgrade this was supposed to be an upgrade to Android 2.1, Eclair. Motorola Cliq XT owners will forever be stuck on Android 1.5 with the early build of Moto Blur.
Motorola is striving to stay ahead of the iPhone 4 curve by offering some new 4G enabled superphones like the Motorola Atrix 4G on AT&T and the Droid Bionic on Verizon. The latest Motorola Android phone on T-Mobile is the Motorola Cliq 2 which is actually a great follow up to the original Cliq.
The Cliq XT which came out last year was the non keyboard version of the Motorola Cliq which was the first Motorola Android device to sport the Moto Blur UI.
