While talking to reporters today at MWC in Barcelona Motorola Mobility CEO, Sanjay Jha, spoke about the Motorola Xoom and taking on Apple.

Apple has been a growing concern of Jha’s since he learned of the iPhone coming to Verizon. At the Credit Suisse technology conference late last year Jha said there was a change in the competitive landscape would be changing at Verizon.  With their deep commitment to Android and some revolutionary hardware coming out this year there seems to be nothing to worry about.

Jha said “Competing with Apple you have to deliver premium products,” and Motorola seems to be doing that with their Motorola Xoom, Motorola Atrix, and Motorola Bionic, and that’s just whats announced so far.

Jha didn’t seem concerned with the Nokia and Microsoft announcement last week, telling a group of reporters:

“I am as focused on Android as I ever have been. As a result of Nokia adopting Microsoft it’s possible that some of the other players concentrate on Android,”

It was reported earlier in the week the Motorola was still totally committed to Android and would not be using Windows Phone 7.  Jha said he hoped that competitors to Android would stay on the market. Presumably because competition drives better products and not because Motorola is looking for their next operating system. To that end we got the headline for this story as Jha said:

“I am as focused on Android as I ever have been. As a result of Nokia adopting Microsoft it’s possible that some of the other players concentrate on Android,”
