We just received this internal email from Sprint highlighting the fact that the Samsung Epic 4G Froyo update has stopped due to problems with the over the air update.
– Camera forceclosing
– Media Player force closing
– loss of data connectivity
– SD Card showing empty or missing
– calendar missing
– gallery not updating pictures
Sprint tells their employees to complete all troubleshooting including a ##RTN to clear the issue and do not exchange the device. There is no word yet on when the update will resume.
UPDATE: We reached out to Sprint and Samsung for comment. Mark Elliot with Sprint has said
Sprint and Samsung have temporarily suspended the Samsung Epic 4G over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.2 (Froyo) as a result of issues experienced by a small number of customers. We apologize for the inconvenience while we perform additional software testing to ensure the best customer experience. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
