Just in time for MWC AT&T is releasing the HTC Inspire 4G on February 13th. AT&T typically releases new phones on Sundays. Possibly because it’s typically a lighter day as far as call center customer service goes, however this launch is no different as the 13th is a Sunday.
The HTC Inspire 4G is the first 4G enabled phone on the AT&T Wireless network. The ITU certified HSPA+ as 4G and AT&T revealed a 2 stage 4G strategy at the AT&T Developers Summit in Las Vegas in January. The first half of the year they will light up their HSPA+ network and release phones capable of HSPA+ as “4G”. Then, during the summer, AT&T plans to start rolling out LTE and LTE devices for their second stage of 4G.
The Inspire 4G will run Froyo and be the first Froyo device on AT&T and also feature mobile hotspot. The HTC Inspire 4G features a 4.3″ screen, the largest screen in AT&T’s portfolio.
The HTC Inspire 4G will be $99.99 after a two year agreement. It will also be available at Radio Shack.
More after the break
Other specs include a 1Ghz processor, Dolby Mobile and SRS Wow HD Sound. It will also feature an aluminum body. The HTC Inspire will feature Sense 2 and htcsense.com which will allow users to send a message to the phone to locate their phone. The alert will work even if the volume is turned all the way down.
“We are kicking off an exciting year for AT&T’s smartphone portfolio, and leading off with our first 4G phone,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
AT&T’s CEO Ralph DeLaVega looked like a kid on Christmas morning as he introduced the new 4G line up at the AT&T Developers Summit.
