While everyone in the world seems to be waiting for the announcement of the Sony Xperia Play or Sony Zeuss (whatever you want to call it but the PlayStation phone) Sony made a huge announcement at their tech event in Tokyo earlier this evening.
Sony has announced a new framework called PlayStation Suite that will bring PlayStation games directly to Android. Although the name is kind of unrevealing what engadget has reported is that PlayStation Suite will be an official PlayStation app store where Android users can purchase and download PlayStation games from their catalog and new games developed specifically for PlayStation Suite. It has been reported that PlayStation Suite will be available for all Android devices, tablets and phones included.
If you don’t get one of the upcoming “rumored” PlayStation phones with a sliding game control pad, PlayStation Suite will emulate controls on screen.
Sony’s Kaz Hirai, who announced PlayStation Suite, also said that “We will first emulate the first generation PSP titles to be available on PS Suite devices.” Joystiq.com has reported the games they’ve seen so far in the presentation were actually PlayStation One console games including: Cool Boarders 2, Syphon Filter, Rally Cross, Wild Arms, and Medievil.
The alledged “PlayStation Phone” is expected to release way before PlayStation Suite is released as Hirai said that PlayStation Suite will release before the end of 2011.
