We knew it wouldn’t take long for the rumor of the day to change from the Verizon iPhone to something new. This time the rumors started substantiating back in September via Tech Crunch and Bloomberg. You see Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook called a nice little press gathering, kind of reminiscent of the one that Verizon had yesterday, however he did not announce a new Facbeook phone, even though we thought he might.
Today it turns out that a company called INQ has just received bluetooth certification for two decives. One of the devices is a qwerty enabled smartphone, the other is a straight up touch-screen device. Both are based on Android and both reveal heavy Facebook integration. Voila what more proof does one need? (just kidding)
Whether or not these will be the “Facebook” phones remains to be seen but lets for a second remember the great devices that Helio made specifically for “myspace”. Although the INQ devices will have Android as a backbone is a Facebook only phone going to be successful?
The blurb that INQ submitted for Bluetooth certification says:
“An Android smartphone built to make messaging faster and smarter. It’s designed around the way people naturally communicate and has Facebook built into its core. The homescreen features multiple entry points to different Facebook functions, while a dynamic widget displays a feed of status updates, albums, videos and photos.”
