We all know about “The Gtab Song “inspired by artists “The Far East Movement” and their hit song “Like A G6” well it turns out that the Far East Movement are in fact Android fans. The Far East Movement has joined the ranks of DJ Khaled, DJ Skee and Rob Roy along with lifestyle brands TapOut, Famous Stars and Straps, Fly Society and Young And Reckless, to kick off the Android For All campaign.
MetroPCS and SA Studios have combined forces to start a campaign called Android for All which is about putting more Android handsets into the hands of more people. The use of well known dj’s, recording artists and lifestyle brands helps put the coolness and urban factor into Android even Andy Rubin has proclaimed, is an operating system for “Early Adopters”. By showing Android off in these settings MetroPCS thinks more people will choose an Android device.
“Our collaboration with SA Studios on Android for All reinforces that MetroPCS offers a growing selection of affordable Android handsets which allows all of our customers to have access to the latest phones and apps that fit their unique lifestyles and let them do more every day,” said Phil Terry, senior vice president of corporate marketing for MetroPCS.
MetroPCS is joining the ranks of Cricket Wireless in getting more Android smartphones into the hands of customers that don’t like traditional long term contracts and wouldn’t get a smartphone if it weren’t for Android and prepaid carriers.
The Android For All Campaign features it’s own mixtape by DJ Skee and featuring Snoop Dog, Kanye, JayZ and some of the artists in the campaign. There is also an art contest so to speak, where people can design their own Android toy and MetroPCS will produce them in a limited run. The winner will receive a 50′ version of their design, 3 vinyl copies of their design and an LG Optimus M smartphone. The runners up will also receive the LG Optimus M.
The campaign will run through March of 2011 and will be supported by In Store appearances by the artists and DJs involved with the campaign.
