From even weeks before the G1’s release an astonishing Swedish company called, well The Astonishing Tribe, was wowing everyone that knew anything about Android. The Astonishing Tribe, or TAT as they are known in our circles, does screen and UI design, everything from gesture based 3D UI’s to live wallpapers and home screens. Their work can be seen on 1 out of every 10 phones shipped period.
The freedom and openness of the Android platform provided a canvas for the creative team at TAT to explore screen design and UI implementation they couldn’t find anywhere else.
According to the release issued this morning by Research In Motion (RIM), TAT is joining RIM to work on their playbook and smartphone platforms. TAT will bring more innovative designs we are accustomed to seeing on Android to Blackberrys very business focused UI.
The TAT blog does say that they will honor their current commitments and keep them separate, although once they are fully on board with RIM we will probably say goodbye to TATs Android wallpapers and home screens
